Data Sourcing
Master Sciences de la Terre et des planètes, environnementParcours Continental Water Sustainability (ouverture à la rentrée 2026-2027)
Description
In today’s world, finding data is no longer the challenge—identifying the datasets that are truly relevant to address a specific problem is. Algorithms often make certain data more visible than others, regardless of their quality, while the proliferation of fake news and fabricated datasets adds further complexity.
This course equips students with the skills to select appropriate databases and online learning tools, critically assess and test the quality of datasets, and integrate data from multiple sources into formats compatible with suitable analytical tools. Students will also learn about the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) and how to summarize and communicate data effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
Finally, the course serves as preparation for the hackathon project, where students will collaborate intensively to develop solutions to a specific problem within a limited time frame.
