Water Issues and Opportunities in Agrosystems
Master Sciences de la Terre et des planètes, environnementParcours Continental Water Sustainability (ouverture à la rentrée 2026-2027)

Description

Water quantity and quality are key determinants of the sustainability of socio-ecosystems. Agroecosystems depend on water to mitigate the impacts of drought on crops, while agricultural practices can, in turn, influence the water balance through irrigation and the potential release of macro- and micropollutants. These effects vary according to farming systems, crop mosaics, and the structure of blue and green water networks.

This unit presents the current state of knowledge on water-related challenges and solutions in agroecosystems, with particular attention to the Water–Energy–Food–Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus. It examines the interconnections between agronomy, hydrology, hydrogeology, and water governance within the context of sustainable agricultural systems.
