Description

The lectures will describe the geology of Azerbaijan and the Caspian region in the context of the evolution of the region. Described areas include the Caucasus, the North and Middle Caspian, the South Caspian, and the Kura Basin.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

Perform basic basin analysis for the basins in Azerbaijan and the Caspian

Understand of how these basins evolved and how deposition and orogenesis.

Understand the geological timescales in the region.
