Description

The Master’s thesis represents the final and integrative phase of the Continental Water Sustainability (CWS) programme. The water-related problems that society (and future CWS graduates) are facing are often unprecedented and their solutions need creativity and innovative, positive and solution-oriented thinking. In their theses, students should apply their interdisciplinary knowledge and the methodological tools acquired throughout the curriculum to elaborate and suggest solutions to a problem related to socio-hydrosystem management. Continental socio-hydrosystems in this context are socio-ecosystems of inland waters (streams, rivers, lakes, wetlands, aquifers etc.) including estuaries.

Besides in the research groups from KIT, UNISTRA and ENGESS, the thesis can be carried out while students are hosted in a public authority, a private company, or an independent research unit, in Europe or abroad. Cooperation with public or private end-users who may directly apply the results of the study is specifically encouraged. The work must demonstrate autonomy, critical thinking, and scientific rigour, whether in a theoretical or applied context.
