Description du contenu de l'enseignement

- basic principles of stratigraphy (biostratigraphy, lithostratigraphy, polarity criteria, absolute dating methods) and their application in the field ;
- geological cartography (map analysis, cross sections realization) and application in the field ;
- understanding the geological history of an area according to various types of data (sedimentology, tectonics, paleontology, stratigraphy, cartography) ;
- milestones of geological history of Azerbaijan ;
- field work (sedimentology, depositional environments, stratigraphy, tectonics, cartography).

Compétences à acquérir

- acquire basic knowledge in stratigraphy ;
- to be able to undertstand a geological map, to realize cross sections, to interpret the corresponding geological history ;
- to be able to interpret various types of field data ;
- acquire basic skills for field works (security, data collecting, use of geological compass, data interpretation).

Pré-requis recommandés

A good mastery of the basic disciplines in geosciences, especially sedimentology and tectonics.
